Position Overview:

As the Manager – Compliance & Contract Labour Management, you will oversee the compliance and management of contract labor within the organization. Your role will involve ensuring adherence to labor laws, managing vendor relationships, and conducting internal audits to align HR practices with regulatory requirements. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing compliance programs, handling statutory audits, and managing a large blue-collar workforce.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Policy and Procedure Management:

    • Verify that all HR policies and procedures are properly documented, implemented, and communicated across the organization.
    • Develop a systematic feedback mechanism to evaluate policy impact and effectiveness, making necessary updates based on evolving organizational goals.
  • Internal Audits and Compliance:

    • Create and execute an internal HR audit calendar to ensure alignment with stated policies.
    • Oversee compliance programs including POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) and labor laws, and conduct compliance-specific training for HR functions.
    • Manage contract labor, third-party workforce, and ensure adherence to labor regulations concerning contract employment.
  • Statutory Compliance and Reporting:

    • Conduct monthly statutory audits to ensure all registers and records are maintained and required notices are displayed.
    • Coordinate with stakeholders to obtain and renew licenses for new stores and ensure compliance with Shop Act, Contract Labour Act, etc.
    • File compliance reports with regulatory agencies and prepare management reports on compliance operations and progress.
  • Inspection and Coordination:

    • Collaborate with human resources departments to ensure consistent disciplinary action strategies for compliance standard violations.
    • Provide assistance to internal or external auditors during compliance reviews and statutory inspections.
    • Coordinate with regional HR during inspections by authorities and send reports to the Regional HR Manager/Corporate HR.
  • Team Leadership and Management:

    • Own and lead the Compliance team in coordination with City HR and HR officers.
    • Ensure periodic reporting and reviews with the business on manpower metrics and HR audit scores.

Educational & Experience Requirements:

  • Educational Qualification: MBA/Diploma in HR, Masters in Labour Management, or LLB.
  • Experience: 10+ years in HR policies, statutory audits, and contract labor management, preferably in a multi-unit setup.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of compliance, vendor management, contract employee lifecycle management, and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).

Behavioral Expectations:

  • Ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on long-term solutions rather than short-term fixes.
  • Willingness to travel across regions to ensure process compliance.

Success Tips/General Remarks:

  • The candidate should have a stable career history with at least 4 years in their current role.
  • Experience managing compliance in multi-unit operations is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP ATS for payroll management is advantageous.
